A clearer way to find the right document appointment

NearbyNotary is an independent Singapore directory and information project. It helps people locate Notaries Public and Commissioners for Oaths, understand the difference between them, and prepare better questions before contacting a professional.

Why the site exists

NearbyNotary was created by Neil Sarker after watching a family member struggle to identify a nearby Commissioner for Oaths from a long directory list. The official record was essential, but it was difficult to compare locations at a glance. The first version of this project put those public listings on a map.

The project has since grown beyond the map. Location pages organise nearby results around major MRT areas, individual profiles make the available directory fields easier to review, and the Guides section explains common Singapore document processes in plain language.

NearbyNotary does not sell legal services, receive appointment bookings or decide which professional a visitor should engage. Its purpose is to make public information easier to navigate while sending users back to the listed professional and official sources for confirmation.

Where directory data comes from

Professional names, appointment types, firms, addresses, telephone numbers and listed languages come from the public Singapore Academy of Law directory. Location coordinates, websites, opening hours and public ratings may be enriched using Google Places data.

How guides are prepared

Guides are independently written for NearbyNotary. They use primary sources such as Singapore Courts, Singapore Academy of Law, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Singapore Statutes Online. Each guide displays a review date and links to its official sources so readers can check current rules.

Independence and listings

NearbyNotary is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by SAL, Singapore Courts, a law firm or any listed professional. Inclusion is based on source-directory data, not payment. The order of nearby results is determined by search inputs such as distance and filters, not a recommendation of quality.

What the site cannot do

Information on this site is general information, not legal advice. NearbyNotary cannot confirm which document you need, guarantee that an overseas authority will accept it, quote a professional’s fee or promise availability. Confirm those points with the receiving organisation and chosen professional.

Corrections and feedback

If a listing has moved, a telephone number is wrong, a professional is no longer at a firm, or a guide needs review, send the exact page URL and explain the issue. Source-backed corrections are prioritised.
